Mastering Time Management as a New Entrepreneur: How I Structure My Week for Success

May 06, 2025

One of the most common questions I get—especially from new real estate agents or entrepreneurs—is about time management. When you’re starting a business or getting serious about scaling one, how you spend your time becomes everything.

A lot of people enter industries like real estate because they’re drawn to the flexibility—the idea of working when you want, running errands at 10 a.m. on a Tuesday, or picking your kids up from school mid-afternoon. It sounds dreamy, right? And it can be. But that freedom comes with a heavy dose of responsibility—something many of us have to learn to manage after being used to structured jobs or school schedules.

Let’s talk about how to reframe your mindset around time and build a schedule for success.

Set a Schedule—Even If It’s Flexible

Freedom in entrepreneurship doesn’t mean working less. In the beginning, especially, you’re working a lot. Whether it’s a traditional 9–5 or late nights at your laptop, putting in 30+ focused hours a week is crucial.

The trick? Set a schedule that works for you—and then stick to it. You can't build something sustainable without consistency.

My Weekly Schedule (And Why It Works)

Let me walk you through my own weekly rhythm, not because it’s perfect, but because it might spark some ideas for building your own.

Monday: Admin & Planning Day (Work-from-Home)

I work from home on Mondays, but I still get ready. That means makeup, decent hair, and never working in pajamas. Why? Because how you show up physically impacts how you show up mentally.

I don’t take calls or meetings on Mondays. Instead, I:

  • Dig out from emails that piled up over the weekend

  • Confirm appointments for the rest of the week

  • Batch admin work so I can fully focus

  • Work through my proactive task list—things I want to move forward

I always end Monday at inbox zero and with a clear sense of direction for the week.

Pro tip: I make my Monday to-do list on Friday before I log off. That way, I can truly enjoy my weekend without worrying about what’s waiting for me.

Tuesday & Wednesday: Heavy Meeting Days

These are high-energy, high-interaction days filled with:

  • One-on-one meetings

  • Department meetings

  • Agent coaching and recruiting calls

  • Strategy discussions

I keep my calendar open for bookings on these days, but only until 4 p.m. Why? Because every meeting creates follow-up tasks. I reserve 4–6 p.m. to handle those right away while they’re fresh.

“I’ll send that report right after this meeting.” Sound familiar? That time buffer ensures I actually do it.

Thursday: Wrap-Up & Lighter Meetings

Thursday tends to be a bit lighter, and I try to avoid introducing any brand-new projects here. I use the time to:

  • Follow up on loose ends

  • Tackle lingering tasks

  • Strategize upcoming marketing or business moves

Friday: Flex Day

I aim to close out the week strong. I might have a few meetings, but I also try to wrap up all open loops. If I’m not done by 4:30? I’m still in the office, finishing what needs to be done. I like having my weekends free, and this helps make that possible.

Why This System Works

  1. Dedicated Focus Times
I batch my work—emails, calls, follow-up—which helps me stay mentally focused and efficient.

  2. Built-In Flexibility
I don’t have to operate on anyone else's schedule—but I do have structure. That’s the sweet spot.

  3. Mindset Reset
Knowing when I’ll deal with something later lets me stay present now. I’m not constantly chasing tasks or distracted by my inbox.

Final Thought

There’s no one-size-fits-all schedule for entrepreneurship. But having a schedule—one you stick to and refine—is one of the strongest tools you can give yourself. It brings clarity, consistency, and calm to the chaos of building something new.

You don’t need to mimic my routine exactly. But if you’re just starting out, try carving out your version of this kind of structure—and watch your productivity (and sanity) transform.
